Alumni Spotlight: Jason Cruz, ATR

Alumni spotlight

Over the next several months as a run up to my sabbatical (yes, I will be on sabbatical from July 2014-July 2015), I will be spotlighting several of our alum and students.  This is a project I have wanted to do for years, but just felt daunted by all the day-to-day work.  Over my sabbatical I hope to really get at what it is that we as expressive arts therapists do, and in particular I hope to look at the integrated arts specialization and it's students, alum, and professionals.  We have the most incredible group of people dedicated to this subversive project - connect, express, engage, listen, love, make, art!

This week's post is passed on by Michaela Kirby,  who supervised Jason Cruz for many years.  Jason graduated from the Lesley University Art Therapy program in the mid 1990s and has worked at the amazing RAW Arts for over twenty years now.

Check out this amazing short film about Jason and his work with youth in Lynn.  Paper Schemes Productions is a group of young people producing "Moments to Speak" - how cool is that!

their mission:

We are an open-minded organization striving to visually engage those of different perspectives. Our passion to emphasize our vision through film comes from confidence, ambition and skill. We believe that through our artistry, we will not only enlighten the world but inspire as well.

So here it is - BE INSPIRED!

And while you're being inspired by our brothers - check out the alumni profile on PhD alumnus Kelvin Ramirez.

Yes - there is a place for you in our program!
