Creating a forum for discussion

For some time I've been discussing the possibility of creating a blog for expressive therapy on my website with one of our alum, Eve Lyons. Well, there's nothing like a pressing project (how will I motivate myself when my dissertation is done?!) to get you moving!

My hope is that this can be a way to make expressive therapy even more of a living process for those of us who are interested in learning more about it.

So, here we go!

Hello All,
Karen and Eve this is a great idea!
I wanted to respond to the suggestion of checking out Pat Allen's website and bolg- thanks for that direction, her site is amazing and authentic, I really enjoyed the art and the writing, and how grass roots it felt, it was inspiring. There was a piece Pat had written about the art critique and I wanted to continue the converstion here with other ET's , do people think there's a place for an art critique- be it in dance, art, music or an integration of the above. A scultpure of mine recently got accepted into an art show and I was suprised by how welcoming I was and wanted artistic feedback about the formal elements etc- as well as eagar to be recieved with more emotional feedback..... I also just read "the meaningful critique" by David Henley in the AATA journal. Do people ever comment on composition or technique with their clients, wouldn't this also strengthen our view of clients as artists? I'm alsways working toward some integration in language for both empathy and artistic feedback- Thanks again Karen and Eve, hopefully this will spark some dialogue- it caught me.

Hello,
This is a wonderful site that you have created. Clearly, I hope that the world of expressive therapy continues to flourish and grow. You are certainly doing your part to help. I am aware of several sucess stories in my home state of SC. I graduated from an outstanding undergraduate art therapy program at Converse College. All of the other students in my graduating class are now working as counselors in various locations. My peer Lori McEachern, who graduated from Converse and went on to get her masters in Art Therapy here at Lesley is back in SC working as a therapist in a hospital and teaching college art therapy courses part time. I hope that this sort of opportunity continues to be available as I approach graduation.
