In addition to directing the Art/Global Health Center at the University of California - Los Angeles, he is associate professor in the Department of World Arts and Cultures teaching courses in AIDS/arts activism. His most recent book, How to Make Dances in an Epidemic: Tracking Choreography in the Age of AIDS (University of Wisconsin Press, 2004), received the award for outstanding book publication from the Congress on Research in Dance.
